Internships

Fall 2010 and Summer 2011 Internship Program

ACTA seeks high-energy students (high school seniors, college undergraduates, and graduate/law students) with excellent research and communication abilities to participate in its work. Intern responsibilities include research, writing, clerical and administrative tasks, and some data entry. Over ACTA’s history, interns have provided critical assistance to the full-time staff, including preparing materials that have gone into nationally-syndicated news stories and materials given to trustees and alumni across the country.

The application process for part-time internships in fall 2010 is currently open. ACTA seeks interns who will be able to start as soon as possible in order to complete an ongoing project.

The application process for full-time internships in summer 2011 will open on December 1, 2010. All interns receive stipends, thanks to the generosity of ACTA's supporters.

Summer interns participate in a special series of seminars with ACTA staff, board members, and educational leaders across the country. Past interns met with Dr. Bruce Cole, chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities; Dr. Frederick M. Hess, director of education-policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute; Kevin Carey, policy director of Education Sector; and Dr. Richard K. Vedder, distinguished professor of economics at Ohio University, as well as participating in private tours of the U.S. Capitol, Washington National Cathedral, and other sites.

Applicants should send a resumé, cover letter, transcript, and contact information for two references.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Placement decisions are made on a rolling basis; early applications are strongly encouraged. All applications should be sent to internship[at]goacta[dot]org. No calls, please.
