Dear ACTA Friend:Have you settled on your New Year’s resolutions? Are you going on a diet, cleaning the basement, finishing that "to do" list? Well, we at ACTA have some additional ideas for you. As we look ahead to 2011, we’ve got a range of resolutions for American higher education—and we hope that you will help us achieve them. Here goes!
With these goals in mind, we are already hard at work in this new year. Later this month, we will be issuing our sixth State Higher Ed Report Card on general education, intellectual diversity, governance and costs in Idaho. We are staying focused on showing what students are expected to study and providing assistance to faculty and trustees who want to have a more coherent curriculum. And we are reaching out aggressively to reform-minded governors around the country who appoint trustees and set an agenda for change. These are exciting times for all of us in higher education reform. The economic downturn has a silver lining: Colleges and universities must do more and better with less—and ACTA is showing the way.
