Trustee Seminar with Aspen Institute

June 20, 2014 | 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Richmond, VA

In partnership with the Aspen Institute, ACTA continues its series of regional trustee seminars in 2014. This day-long seminar, "Measuring Academic Outcomes: How Trustees Support Student Learning," will explore fundamental questions about the leadership roles of trustees in safeguarding academic excellence and cost-effectiveness in a time of rapid change. We will examine such questions as: What are the fiduciary authorities and duties of trustees? In an age of MOOCs, what does higher education quality and cost-effectiveness look like? What does "college-educated" mean and how can it be measured?

The seminars will make use of the classic Aspen Institute method of facilitated discussions, structured as Socratic inquiry. Short, pertinent readings, ranging from classic texts on edcucation to contemporary policy studies, will be distributed in advance and form the basis of discussion-based sessions.

Location:
The Commonwealth Club
401 W Franklin Street
