Show Me

A Report Card on Public Higher Education in Missouri
October 1, 2008 by ACTA Download PDF Press Release

Missouri is the “Show Me” state—with this goal in mind, the report examines the state of higher education in Missouri, focusing on four key areas of the public’s interest. They are: what students are learning (the curriculum), whether the marketplace of ideas is vibrant (intellectual diversity), how the universities are run (governance), and what a college education costs (affordability). If our nation is to ensure its continued preeminence, policymakers, trustees, alumni, and taxpayers must know what’s going on in higher education. This report card aims to do just that—and it follows similar ACTA report cards on higher education in the states of North Carolina and Georgia.

WHO WE ARE

Launched in 1995, we are the only organization that works with alumni, donors, trustees, and education leaders across the United States to support liberal arts education, uphold high academic standards, safeguard the free exchange of ideas on campus, and ensure that the next generation receives an intellectually rich, high-quality college education at an affordable price.
