A Guide to Residential Life Programs for Higher Education Trustees
October 1, 2009 by ACTA Download PDF

This guide briefly retraces the rise of ideologically charged residential life programming on campuses and shows how such programs, despite their seemingly innocuous goals, in fact undercut the principles of rational inquiry that are foundational to the academic enterprise. It concludes by outlining the practical steps trustees should take to ensure that their institution’s housing programs respect student rights and suggests other more meaningful ways of engaging students.

WHO WE ARE

Launched in 1995, we are the only organization that works with alumni, donors, trustees, and education leaders across the United States to support liberal arts education, uphold high academic standards, safeguard the free exchange of ideas on campus, and ensure that the next generation receives an intellectually rich, high-quality college education at an affordable price.
