Inside Academe Vol. XXVIII No. 1

November 18, 2022 Download PDF

ACTA celebrates the success of the 2022 ATHENA Roundtable and Gala, where panels on genuine diversity and civil discourse sparked robust, cross-ideological dialogue. ACTA unveiled its Gold Standard for Freedom of Expression, a blueprint to help colleges restore free thought through institutional neutrality and open debate. Amid ongoing challenges, ACTA urged MIT to strengthen its speech protections, while the latest What Will They Learn? report continues to expose widespread curricular gaps in higher education. We also honor champions of academic freedom: Professor John McWhorter with the Philip Merrill Award, Dr. Erec Smith as a Hero of Intellectual Freedom, and UVA’s Emma Camp for confronting campus self-censorship.
