It is with sorrow that the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) announces that it is suspending all engagement with the Heritage Foundation. The values that Heritage has defended in recent weeks depart too far from ACTA’s values to continue the relationship we have had in the past.
ACTA has already signaled its disengagement in the request that we have made in recent days to have the essay we wrote for the Heritage Foundation withdrawn from its forthcoming publication. It is our hope that Heritage will regain the principles and sense of purpose it needs to be a positive force on campus and throughout the nation. In doing so, it will enable us to restore our productive working relationship.

Launched in 1995, we are the only organization that works with alumni, donors, trustees, and education leaders across the United States to support liberal arts education, uphold high academic standards, safeguard the free exchange of ideas on campus, and ensure that the next generation receives an intellectually rich, high-quality college education at an affordable price.
