ACTA Calls Upon Indiana University to Stand for First Principles

April 11, 2017

In the face of mounting resistance to Charles Murray’s impending visit to Indiana University─Bloomington, ACTA reached out to the Indiana University (IU) Board of Trustees. ACTA encouraged the board to take precautions, such as staffing sufficient numbers of security officers and reminding students of the university code of conduct in order to ensure that Murray is able to speak as planned. Moving forward, IU would do well to implement the Chicago Principles on free expression, to make it clear to the campus community that academic freedom is vital to the university’s mission.
