The evening hosted by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) and the School of Civic Leadership at UT Austin will feature a keynote address by Vincent Phillip Muñoz, Tocqueville Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, and will celebrate the work of ACTA’s National Commission on American History and Civic Education and the launch of A Broadside for the Nation, a new report calling on colleges and universities to require undergraduate coursework in American history or governance. The discussion will explore how America’s tradition of religious liberty and freedom of conscience emerged from the nation’s constitutional heritage and why a deeper understanding of these principles remains essential to civic education today.

KEYNOTE

The evening will feature a keynote address by Vincent Phillip Muñoz, Tocqueville Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. A member of ACTA’s National Commission on American History and Civic Education and author of Religious Liberty and the American Founding, Dr. Muñoz is one of the country’s foremost scholars of the American founding and religious liberty. Introductions to the event and Dr. Muñoz will be given by Justin Dyer, Rex W. Tillerson Chair and Dean of the University of Texas at Austin School of Civic Leadership, and Michael Poliakoff, ACTA President & CEO.
