City University of New York Board of Trustees chairman Benno Schmidt delivered remarks on how the City University of New York (CUNY) System became more competitive on a national level under his leadership. He spoke upon accepting the 2010 Philip Merrill Award for Outstanding Contributions to Liberal Arts Education, with tributes by Colin Powell, Floyd Abrams, and Mathew Goldstein.
